BirdLife ECA is one of the six regional Secretariats that compose BirdLife International, the global authority on the status of bird species. Based in Brussels, it supports the European and Central Asian Partnership and is present in 47 countries including all EU Member States.

We are now looking for a Social Media & Communications Intern to join our small, dynamic team. In this role you will assist with our social media work, primarily with TikTok, but also other social media channels, to engage with young audiences, as well as those interested in nature and climate issues at large.
How you will do this:
- Run BirdLife Europe & Central Asia’s TikTok account.
- Conceptualise and produce compelling social media content that aligns with BirdLife’s values and objectives for all our social media channels.
- Support BirdLife Partners in the production of social media products to be used at national level.
- Utilise creative storytelling techniques and innovative formats to effectively deliver BirdLife messages to a broader audience.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all digital platforms.
- Analyse social media trends, algorithms, and metrics to optimize content performance and maximize our outreach.
- Develop high-quality visual and multimedia materials suitable for social media.
- Engage with followers, respond to comments, and foster a welcoming and informative community on our social media channels.
- Continuously brainstorm and propose fresh content ideas to keep our social media channels exciting and impactful.
- Potentially travel to workshops and meetings.
Ideally you will have:
- Hands-on, demonstrable experience with running a TikTok account.
- A deep understanding of how Instagram, LinkedIn and X function, and the type of content that works for these channels.
- Understanding and interest in social media trends.
- Knowledge on how to develop and produce engaging multimedia content bespoke to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, international environment.
- A passion for nature, wildlife, and sustainability.
- An interest in EU nature and climate politics.
- Flawless knowledge of written English, other European languages are an asset

Location:
The position is based in Brussels, Belgium. BirdLife offers a hybrid workplace model where presence in the office is required at least twice per week.
